Global Climate change which could theoretically kill everyone on earth this century or in the coming centuries is a big factor here. Also, with less people there will be likely less chance for a world Virus to kill everyone. Big viruses that could extinct humans likely would be much more likely the more people that are on earth.
So, for all these reasons and more, having less people being born likely will allow the human race more likely to survive this century without going extinct.
Another factor is that robots will likely fill in with the jobs people need to get done too. So, less children to financially support might be good in this sense too.
It is expected that with present birthrates in the U.S. that there will be 8 million people less alive in the U.S. in 2050 than now.
And I think this is a good thing (at least in regard to human survival here on earth ongoing).
