I was watching a movie made I believe in 2017 called "Murder on the Orient Express(2017) and on a sign it had the Word Vinkovci on it at a train station. So, first I wondered if this was a real place and it is and then I wondered what country it was in then in 1934 when this is all supposed to take place on the Orient Express?
In 1934, Vinkovci was located in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
Historical Context
State Name: Kingdom of Yugoslavia (named officially from 1929 onward; previously the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes).
Regional Division: Part of the region of Slavonia.
Administrative Area: Under the administrative layout of the 1930s, it fell within the Sava Banovina (and later the Banovina of Croatia from 1939 onwards).
If you are researching the railway or events from that specific year, would you like information regarding the trans-balkan train routes or regional history of Vinkovci during the 1930s?
