I was walking my dogs in the forest that I live in in the dark because I was enjoying looking at the Milky Way Galaxy which I can easily see from where I live if there are no clouds out that night. However, when my two dogs on a leash (an Australian Shepard-German long hair Shepard mix and a Corgi started barking out of the blue) I decided to turn on a light and then suddenly realized we had cornered a multi-point large buck against the corner of the fence next to the road. I was expecting the buck to lower his head and charge the dogs and I and I thought we were in for it and the dogs and I were not prepared for this this quick either.
However, the buck surprised us all and jumped 8 feet high right over my head missing the top of my head with all his feet. I was never so surprised in all my life but also somehow very grateful that no one got injured, not the dogs, not me and not the buck. So, I was pretty impressed at how high a buck can jump from a standing start because I had never seen one do that before! The buck likely saw the dogs were on leash and if he jumped over us that I wouldn't let them follow him.
I have seen first hand what a buck can do with horns to a dog and was very grateful that's not what happened that night to my dogs or me.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
