I called a friend who had to evacuate from the Carmel Fire

He said he had fire insurance but it was his parent's house so there is great sentimental Value for he and his sister. So, he had to evacuate under mandatory evacuations last night. He said he was okay. I was worried he was going to stick it out and be one of those people watering their homes to prevent it from burning up and cooking in the fire instead like in the Camp Fire in Paradise.

But, as we spoke this evening I realized that for his house at least the River Fire is much more of a threat because of all the fire engines stationed along Carmel Valley Road. So, he isn't worried that much about the Carmel fire because it is south of Carmel Valley road but he is more worried about the River Fire coming and getting his property and house.

Usually, they are able to prevent Carmel Valley Village from burning up in past years. But, then they didn't have hundreds of fires to fight caused by lightning all over the state either. So, the Firemen and women are stretched pretty thin on all fires right now and planes and helicopters are often grounded by the heavy smoke no one can see through as well.

So, it's sort of up in the air whether many areas can be saved this time from lightning caused fires all over the state.

Here in Mt. Shasta we might be hit by a thunder and lightning storm and possible rain around midnight. But, if that's true it's midnight right now and no rain or lightning so far.
