Reading the above article reminded me of something someone told me about the late 1980s. They said their daughter came back from college where she was putting herself through college by working. She said in order to get her degree without going too far in debt that many college students at that time resorted to dumpster diving. Dumpster diving is something someone does to find extra food to eat rather than having to work to get it. Because when you are trying to get an A rather than a B or trying to get a C rather than a D or an F time is of the essence. So, instead of working more hours at more jobs some college students then and now dumpster dive to make time more efficient so they can graduate with the highest grades possible with the lowest amount of student loans outstanding.
So, students often then and now go dumpster diving because it might save them having to work for 30 to 50 dollars which might make the difference between an A or a B or a C and an F in a class.
She also said she found a treasure trove one day which was an organic foods shipper. So, not only did they throw away food that was too late to be shipped but they threw away organic food that had no pesticide on it at all. So, she was raving about the Mushooms and organic lettuce and berries (all organic) that she had found that saved her up to 50 dollars a week. The food was perfectly good as long as it was eaten within a day or two and was washed off well.
So, Survival takes on many forms in people's lives even here in the U.S. It might make you look at college graduates different after that. But, people do what they have to to succeed and to survive whatever comes or they don't wind up doing either.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
