I think it was last Wednesday or thursday night when it froze solid last. Anyway, it did it again last night. So, when I woke up this morning and pushed on it, it was solid and I couldn't break through the ice with my finger.
I have lived in this house near the ocean of Northern California now for (15 years this coming June) and I don't remember it freezing this hard ever before here. So, this is a new phenomenon. I'm sort of wondering where the weather will go from here this winter and of whether this is a fluke or whether this might even be a new normal for winter on a more arctic scale for the lower 48 states now?
Even in Los Angeles about 400 miles south of here or so it was 37 last night and it's only 52 right now at around 10 am with a high of 61. And even though the low was 46 in San Diego last night the present temperature is a degree lower than LA at 51 degrees Fahrenheit. What an amazing cold spell for everyone in the lower 48 states!
Also, as of 10 am this morning it was 14 degrees Fahrenheit in Ashland, Oregon which I thought was a remarkably low temperature for there during the daytime!
Later: It's almost 12:30 pm now and there is still ice about 1/2 inch deep covering the whole birdbath in the back yard.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
