American suicide bomber in Syria raises fears for US?

I think fear in regard to this is sort of out of ignorance of the average person. I could be wrong about this but this is one explanation. This young man likely didn't like Assad killing people in Syria so he joined a group fighting Assad. So, possibly he did this to sacrifice his life putting Assad out of business. I think maybe it is this simple. And not some kind of threat against the U.S. I could be wrong but this is one explanation. I think maybe what people are thinking isn't actually what was going on. He likely wanted to end Assad not the U.S. I think we are assuming too much here. And that those assumptions likely are not correct. I'm worried that whatever this young man's intentions were it will now be misconstrued by all sorts of people in the western world and everywhere else on earth.

Because unless this young man actually returned to the U.S. and then actually tried to harm people here we wouldn't know what his short or long term intentions were or would be? All we really know for sure here is he wanted to end the Assad Government by his actions in Syria.
