Here’s How Many People Have Died From Ebola So Far

Updating: At least 4,960 people have died from an outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, according to the World Health Organization. posted on Aug. 4, 2014, at 1:52 p.m.

The World Health Organization declared the Ebola crisis over in Nigeria and Senegal.

There is also a separate Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, WHO said.

The agency said that the outbreak in DRC is a distinct and independent event, with no relationship to the outbreak in West Africa.

However, it is also important to note that the number of cases in October 2014 were 10 times the number of those cases in July 2014. 

So, theoretically only, if we take the number of cases and do ten times the number every 4 months until January 2016 that is well over 1 billion cases. So, hopefully the world won't let that happen.
