Grandparents to the world

Maybe it's because my wife and I are now natural caregivers and that I have now been raising children non-stop until this fall when my youngest went away to college since 1974 when my first son was born then (he is 40 now) and a teacher and married and I have my first grandson this year from him.

But, what I noticed today is that everyone we met sort of adopted us as their special grandparents. It has sort of been like this all week. It happens partly because my wife is still walking with a cane from a knee replacement surgery in June. But, I'm perfectly healthy, so I find this sort of difficult some times to deal with as she is much more social right out of the box so to speak than I am. It takes me some time to intuitively completely figure someone out (1 to 5 minutes time) before I feel completely comfortable with anyone new. However, my wife now just seems to pull this grandmother energy on everyone and they sort of lap it up like little kids or puppies or something. Also, my wife is one of the most extroverted people I've ever met, valedictorian of her High School with 3 degrees including an MBA in Business. So, she is pretty impressive in what she knows and can speak about with people. So, this week we have been grandparents to the world and my wife just loves this. I can sort of take it or leave it myself. But that's just me. So, I'm getting used to this new reality with my youngest off to college for the first time this fall.

My wife has the social graces of someone like the Queen of England so people naturally tend to be very impressed with her because of her exceptional kindness and wisdom towards everyone.
