Geshe Lobsang Gyatso who my ex-wife and I brought back to California with us in spring of 1986 after spending a lot of time with him traveling from Bodhgaya, India to Dharamsala, India at about 6000 feet in elevation in the Himalayas in Northwestern India in the state of Himachal Pradesh
So, when we returned with us to the Northern California Coast to our home then in 1986 he spoke to us a little about "Little Hurt instead of Big Hurt". Also, you have to understand that English was his 2nd or 3rd language after Tibetan with a Kham accent and Hindi. So, "little hurt instead of big hurt" was a very useful descriptor of a series of events.
He was explaining why helping other beings in a right mindful way through prayer or anyway you can in a practical way lessons one's negative karma and brings about "little hurt instead of big hurt" in one's lives.
I began to see this in action. For example, one day I accidentally smashed a toe with a wood splitter while splitting wood for a wood stove and thought that it would at the very least turn purple and I was going to lose a nail. But, an hour or two later it was as if nothing had happened at all. So, I attributed this to what Geshela was talking about.
For Tibetan lamas this is all a science not just a belief system and a lot of this works like clockwork. I had already observed this in my experiences throughout India and Nepal and Thailand and Japan already. So, having this scientifically explained to me just meant I could now observe it in action in my own life in addition to seeing it manifest on other people's lives too on an everyday basis.
My whole life has always been filled with a great deal of Grace even when I was young and angry and didn't understand. I used to get really angry when things interfered with my plans in any way. However, by my late 20s I started to observe how whenever my plans were interfered with it was God rerouting my life in some way. So, I stopped being so angry and just become more observant of what God was doing with my life. But, it took me until my middle to late 20s to really understand this more fully so I could be accepting instead of just getting really angry so much.
It helps to be alert to what God is doing in your life and with your life so you don't interfere with it. Because God has quite a plan for all our lives.
So, I have found the best way is to try to be in tune with God's plan so you are sort of Co-Creating with God. If you can anticipate what he wants in your life and others' lives then your life can go much more smoothly. By God's Grace.
So, the idea of "There are no problems only opportunities" comes to mind regarding all this as one lives their lives every day.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
