McCain and Gates: Critical of Pentagon unbridled spending

This radical critique of the Pentagon came from Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.). He is joined in many of his views by former defense secretary Robert Gates, who in his recent memoir describes the Pentagon as a “gargantuan, labyrinthine bureaucracy” on which he had “declared war” to get results. Forty percent of Pentagon spending goes to overhead, Gates points out in the book, and as many as 30 layers of staff sit between the secretary and an action officer.

Read the Washington Post column

I was interested in hearing how Fareed Zacharia described the Pentagon as  30 layers of bureaucracy before there is anyone who can take any action on anything, and describing it as a socialistic bureaucracy that no president or Secretary of Defense can really change or control.

Just current cost overruns on military systems right now are: "Still, a recent Government Accountability Office report made a valiant effort, concluding that the total budget overruns for current weapons systems stands at nearly $500 billion." which I believe is more than most military funding for most countries on earth spend per year if you combined them all together! Which makes the Pentagon the most inefficient and costly Bureaucracy right now on Earth. So, what is now going on is many times worse than the Military industrial complex was in Eisenhower's time that he warned us about. Now, it has become the most inefficient Bureaucracy on Earth and is eating the Citizens of the U.S. and the Earth alive. Because we can't afford something like this and stay solvent as a nation ever since the 2008 recession.

So, the way it is presently run in inefficiency it is destroying everything good about America and the U.S. slowly but surely until everything that people love about the U.S. will be gone eventually because of it.

There is no doubt that we need A Pentagon. We just need it to be hundreds of times more cost efficient than it is now or America will be gone and forgotten within 100 years. Because whoever is in charge then would erase all memories from humanity of America ever having existed.

So, our only real choice to continue to have America is to make the Pentagon more efficient before it's inefficiency destroys the whole world along with Putin.
