ISIS(ISIL) would like to take over Lebanon and likely is plotting to do so. Overrunning Israel isn't going to happen because the U.S. and Europe wouldn't let that happen. However, Lebanon is sort of a more neutral country because they are Muslim (both factions) and Christian (all three and more). So, Lebanon is always trying to balance all their religious factions.
ISIS will try to work this against Lebanon's survival as a country. However, an all out war between Israel and Hezbollah is only going to defeat Hezbollah from Israel and ISIS hands. So, I don't see this war as useful to the survival of Lebanon or Hezbollah.
Another really strange angle on all this is that Saudi Arabia and Israel are aligned against Iran who finances Hezbollah and all their missiles and weapons. Saudi Arabia (not the government but the people) finances ISIS(ISIL) whereas Iran finances Hezbollah. And Hezbollah and ISIS(ISIL) are fighting it out now across Iraq, Iran, Syria and now Lebanon.
So there are multiple proxy wars taking place:
1st Proxy war is Russian and Iran's proxy Assad against all comers including the U.S. (very tentatively).
2nd proxy war is ISIS against everyone else including Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Iraq. ISIS being financed by 1.1 billion Sunnis throughout the world who have had enough of Shia Muslims and All Sunni and Shia Governments in the middle east.
3rd proxy war is specifically between Saudi Arabia allied with Israel and all Sunni nations against Iran and Hezbollah.
As you can see this is incredibly confusing who is fighting who or supporting who.
Then you have Turkey who is a NATO member who also supports ISIS(ISIL) against Syria who is suppressing Sunnis and killing Sunnis with Barrel Bombs.
So, it is a terrible tangled web of craziness and death ongoing.
It is so very complicated that no one really understands it completely not even the people that choose to still live there.
However, at the very least 200,000 or more people have died thus far in Syria from Assad. Thousands and thousands more have died from ISIL(ISIS) in Syria and Iraq and Lebanon so far of all persuasions and religions present there now.
