In January 257,000 new jobs which means that 1 million jobs have been added since November which is the best 3 month average in 17 years.
However, the unemployment rate ticked up a little to 5.7%

My thought is that the unemployment rate likely kicked up a little from 5.6% to 5.7% because people who had given up looking for work saw people getting hired and entered the job market once again. This also is a good sign for the economy.
