Directed by Gore Verbinski. With Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson. Native American warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed ...

My take on this movie might be different than many people because I actually studied with Native American Medicine men and women. So, the humor Johnny Depp's portrayal is very tongue in cheek and yet brings out much Native American philosophy. Then Indians in the movie say Tonto is crazy. However, my wife pointed out when I asked, "How did Tonto get out of jail?" She said, "He flew out as a crow" which would be quite in keeping with a shapeshifter that was a medicine man.

Yes. The spirit horse they take it over the top but Tonto's reaction to what the Great Spirit is telling him to do is really funny if you understand how many Native American Medicine men actually think.

You see, it is not something they read in a book it is something they are experiencing 24 hours a day and having a direct experience with the Creator as the Great Spirit. Some call this great spirit Wakon Tonka which means "The Great moving spirit" sometimes thought of as the wind that blows across the prairies.

So, even though some native Americans might be upset at Johnny Depp portrayal of an indian, still he does his best to actually show how a medicine man might think and act if he was a Crazy Wisdom Medicine man.

Crazy Wisdom means the wisdom beyond logic.

So, even though I found the movie very funny it had special meaning for me because of my studies. Another movie I loved like this was: "Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman.
