Weather in NOrthern California now

Today I woke up to heavy winds and gusty winds of above 20 mph with gusts above 30 mph. It felt sort of like being in Hawaii in the winter time instead of Northern California because this is where the weather came from as a pineapple express storm. So, only above 8000 to 9000 feet is there snow on all the taller mountains in NOrthern California, Oregon and Washington will there be snow from this storm at least at first. And it will likely melt any snow below 8000 to 9000 feet and therefore cause flooding various places between Northern California, Oregon and Washington too because it is a very heavy rain storm laden with tropical water from the Pacific Ocean about where Hawaii is.

Our Housekeeper said when she took my daughter's Corgi for a walk this morning that it smelled very strange sort of like Urine in the air. I told her likely it was pine and Acacia pollen which is everywhere now especially on cars which are all yellow if they are parked outside now from the acacia pollen. So, it is blowing around everywhere on the winds too. Then periodically where I live rain comes down in small groups and then is stopping so far.

But, we aren't where they expect 8 to 10 inches to a foot of water which is north of us and inland near the Sierras which could cause many rivers to flood. The water mostly isn't that helpful to the state long term because it would have to come as snow pack to be useful to us in the spring, summer and fall. So, a lot of it will simply wash away into the ground and ocean because of this, even though it might keep everything green in northern California till May or more just from this one soaking and flooding rain in Northern California. Our last rain of any amount was before Christmas Eve to about late November when we had some flooding then from too much rain all at once also.

So, this likely will be a flooding event in many areas and a minor flooding event where I live too on the coast. However, where I live is not in any kind of river basin or area that floods so generally what it does is make the spring run on my property and keep the front and back yards green so I don't have to water maybe for about a month or more now.

But, we are still waiting for most of the 1 to 3 inches of rain that is supposed to hit here between now and Monday.
