The Bastard Executioner (2015) a new series on FX

  1. This is a new series on FX made by the same people that made Sons of Anarchy except these all have English or Welsh accents. because this takes place in the early 1400s in Wales. I Believe King Edward II is on the throne also. The executioner used to be a knight of Edward II. Since the series already started it costs about 1.99 for a non-hd or 2.99 for an HD version of each episode up to the present I believe the next one you could watch or DVR on TV is the 6th episode. I was able to record the 4th and 5th but then we made the mistake of watching the 5th episode first which was very well done so it kind of hooked us on the main characters. This time

Stephen Moyer who played Bill Compton the vampire in TRUE BLOOD who was a soldier for the south in the Civil War in this one has a greying beard and is the Chamberlain in this one and likely "gay" in a very buff sort of way and also someone you love to hate. The Basturd executioner is a knight who was betrayed by the Baron. The Baroness at some point comes to like the ex-knight who she thinks is an executioner. All we had to do was to watch episode 105 and we sort of fell in love with several of the characters and wanted to see where the plot was going to go. So far, we have watched episode 5 then 1 then 2 in HD (one and two are at Amazon Prime) (or all of them if you haven't watched or recorded any yet with your DVR or TIVO. Also, being from England where full frontal nudity is acceptable and because this is cable expect to see some aspects of nudity and so this really isn't for children because the theme is extremely adult where leaders don't very often respect anyone's rights to be alive or to be treated decently unless you are a Baroness or someone like that. And even if you are a Baroness you have to watch while people are being executed by chopping their heads off. So, PTSD is sort of rampant in a culture like this.

Also, the executioner is a devout Catholic (everyone in England is in the 1400s still) and he has visions that seem to come true a lot. So, maybe you might call him a precognitive with Christian visions that seem to keep him alive through anything. So, watching him hold onto his sanity by believing God has a mission for him is very interesting in itself and reminds me of many Christian mystics that I have known in my life.
