I would personally describe a technologist as someone who studies Technology.
I fit into this category since my father was an Electrical Contractor. So, my parents were reading to me about Nicola Tesla's discoveries like Alternating current, fluorescent lights, electrifying the ground in Boulder for free electricity etc. when I was a child under 10 or 12 years of age. So, this developed me from learning about technology since I was about 5 years old by reading popular science and popular mechanics magazines and always interested in cars and technology and how everything worked ever since. So, at this point I could explain to anyone how cars, diesels, aircraft engines and wings and how the internet works and how smartphones and computers work because I have been interested in this kind of stuff since I was maybe 4 or 5 years of age. So, being interested I study whatever interests me now that I'm retired and have the time to study whatever interests me. And if I'm intrigued by something often I will share it with all of you too. So, other people can benefit from what I have learned and they can progress their knowledge in any direction that they find useful to their survival and the survival of the whole human race here on earth and beyond for hopefully millions of years into the future.
However, this particular article breaks it down into Technologists as various professions. But, I thought you might be interested anyway in all these professions that have the word technologist as a part of their job title.
