Roger Ailes may get the boot from Fox News Channel within week amid sexual harassment allegations
Roger Ailes’ long run as the creator and hands-on boss of the right-leaning news network appears to be coming to an end in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment, according to New York Magazine.
Rupert Murdoch and sons Lachlan and James — co-chairmen and CEO, of FNC's parent company 21st Century Fox — plan to boot the 76-year-old executive, according to sources briefed on a sexual-harassment investigation of Ailes being conducted by the New York law firm Paul, Weiss.
Why Megyn Kelly has yet to defend Roger Ailes
A third source tells the magazine that all three media bigs are in agreement that Ailes needs to go, sooner rather than later.
Ailes career-threatening woes erupted earlier this month when former “Fox & Friends” co-host Gretchen Carlson slapped the once Teflon TV executive with a scathing sexual-harassment lawsuit.
The high-profile case against Ailes sparked an internal investigation that sources say has expanded into a wide-ranging inquiry into Ailes's controversial, take-no-prisoners management style.
Interviews between investigators and staff are now being conducted at Paul, Weiss's Midtown offices due to concerns that the Fox offices could be bugged, sources say.
'Deflategate' team to probe harassment claims against Roger Ailes
Sherman reports that investigators are seeking to interview former female employees of Fox News in addition to current staff. They believe that Ailes has been pressuring employees to speak out on his behalf against his accusers. Indeed, following a column in the Daily News on Sunday about FNC's highest profile star Megyn Kelly remaining silent in his defense, a Fox News rep insisted that The News publish a list of on-air talent who have publically come out in support their boss.
Ailes's spokesperson Irena Briganti did not respond to a request for comment
