I think it is more important what the stance of the other 8 billion people on earth is. Trump's stance is temporary. After all, he is already 70 years old. At most, he would be president for 4 to 8 years and we still have 200 years to figure it out still.
However, what I think might happen is so many people will die from his programs worldwide that resistance to his point of view will grow by 10 fold. Whether that is enough to save us from extinction at this point I cannot say.
