I've never thought legalizing Marijuana was ever really a good idea for any reasons other than to reduce the 50,000 dead people in Mexico and Calfornia often machine gunned down before marijuana became legal in various states. So, by making marijuana legal it stopped the killing by drug lords of competitors or just people who got in the way of what they wanted to do. (at least in regard to marijuana.
Why?
Mostly because of the long term effects of marijuana. It affects your decisions in your life. Though alcohol is one kind of national and worldwide problem, marijuana is another kind.
For example, it affects your judgement for about 6 months time each time you smoke or eat it. It doesn't leave your system within 24 hours like alcohol does. So, to me, like alcohol it affects the decisions you make in life. And like alcohol often it takes you to places you otherwise wouldn't go in your life and that can either be bad or good. And unfortunately in the long run (like alcohol) it takes people to bad places because only by facing life head on do most people have a future here on earth, especially these days.
So, the more clear headed a person is and the better decisions a person makes the more likely they are going to wind up somewhere useful and good.
And conversely the more screwed up people's decision making is the more likely they are going to wind up nowhere along with many of the homeless people you now see in America and around the world.
But, also many people spent years of their lives in jail because of marijuana from the 1950 and 1960s onwards and maybe having it be legal is better than all the lost lives of people incarcerated just for minor marijuana offenses too.
But, I greatly worry about the mental confusing effects of marijuana long term upon our nation, of it dumbing us down as a nation having it legal now in so many states like Oregon, California, Washington, Alaska, Canada, Colorado and others.
But also now you have large companies like Coors breweries and others starting to make medical marijuana illegal in places like Oregon. Marijuana has many many medicinal effects too which likely are much more important to people staying alive than recreational marijuana is. So, maybe our country needs to take a look at why big companies like Coors are making medical marijuana illegal in Oregon?
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
