If you want to study an alien like life form that lives on earth study the Octopus

On some levels one might say that an Octopus is (potentially) more intelligent than a human being simply because of the way they are designed. But they do live in another realm than us in that they live in the ocean and we live in the air and on land. So, we have evolved differently from the very (potentially) intelligent Octopus.
Why haven't Octopuses evolved to the point where humans are now? Mostly it has to do with their breeding cycle. Because they have 8 (hands?) after all that can do many of the things that we do with our hands as well only in slightly different ways. But doing these things on land might be difficult unless they had a "land Suit" like we have space suits. So, for an octopus it would be full of water and be like a "water car" that they drove around on land with much like when we put propulsion devices on space suits in space.
A Giant Pacific Octopus can live 3 to 5 years in the wild and be 33 pounds. However, like humans they likely can also live longer with a better environment and likely better food and educations.

I found this book below listed today. It seems to be 5 star rated which is good so this might be a good start if you want to understand an alien like being who lives on earth with 8 arms and a decentralized nervous system away from his central brain. Another difference is this being has no bones in his or her body other than it's beak it uses for eating
