The fact that he is even still alive is mostly due to his ongoing therapy in acting school in L.A.
So, one wonders whether Sally his sometimes love who is also enamored by acting and quite good at it is sleeping herself to the top of her profession with anyone who can get her successful while Barry tries hard not to be a hit man after several tours in war in Afghanistan and maybe Iraq? where he had to shoot people and was praised for it by other soldiers because they called him a "Stone Cold Natural Killer?".
So, this season is even a darker comedy than the last but I find myself not laughing as much on the outside as I did last season simply because this is much darker than the last season.
It is likely the most dark thing I choose to watch sort of like a guilty pleasure.
But, Breaking Bad I had to stop watching when it first came on after the 6th episode because it just warped morals and morality too much for me.
Whereas Barry to me is a psychological study of how a PTSD Marine Veteran copes with being good at killing people all over the world. I found it last season both entertaining and funny at times and interesting. But, this is a new season and might get too dark for me so I'm waiting to see if I can deal with what comes next.
I found myself wincing a lot during the first episode of this season but I had to watch it again to try to understand it better. For me, it's very disturbing like watching "The Kid" (2019) but like "The Kid" it has many important things to say about life today if you are grown up enough to watch it and see it.
