Except for the lightning and thunder you would think we were in Hawaii right now. We were having vegeburgers at Bistro 107 in Mt. Shasta while out on the deck eating with friends and were looking towards Castle Lake and Mt. Eddy across from us when we noticed big big Thunderheads forming and realized we might get not only rain but also thunder and lightning. Though we couldn't hear it we could start to see lightning up near Castle lake at first. Then after we left the restaurant and returned to our room we saw as we were parking it was beginning to rain a little and then harder and harder. Then from our veranda we saw a double rainbow that completely covered the whole city of mt. Shasta which is two perfect rainbows spanning the whole town which was a pretty magical experience in itself.
Before that two of my friends and I went skiing at the Mt. Shasta Ski park but it was pretty slushy so there weren't many skiers but that was also good because it made it much safer to ski. IT was a lot of work to ski today because slushy snow and tracks are hard to cut through right with your edges so you don't fall down. It's a little like if you are in a boat you have to watch out for waves from other boats or storms so you don't capsize your boat. Only at a Ski Lift you are looking for tracks and what they are doing and mostly you want to avoid other tracks in the snow so they don't make you fall down much like waves might make a boat get water in it or even turn over. So, the conditions of snow really really make a difference in how you decide to ski. And since conditions tend to change from day to day you have to get used to those new conditions every time you ski. Driving a car can be like this. One day it is 70 degrees and driving is one way if it is daylight. the next day it might be snowing or raining and then you have to think about whether it is safe enough to get on the road. Especially skiing is this way (snowboarding too) because every time to some degree you are taking your life in your hands so you want to make sure it is worth the risk depending upon your skill level and your equipment and the conditions you are skiing on, the people you are skiing with etc.
Anyway, by the end if the day we were all worn out and went to this restaurant and then I hopped in a hot bathtub to soak my muscles so I won't have problems later tonight or tomorrow. Also, I didn't fall down at all today and for me at least, any day I don't fall down skiing is a good day.
Today was a "Ski in your t-shirt and jeans kind of day even though I wore ski pants over jeans in case I fell down because in slushy snow if you fall down you are sure to get very very wet from slushy snow. So, I wore ski goggles (because they help protect your face from too much sun where they cover your eyes and face and wore sunblock and a small back pack with water and extra clothes in case the storm suddenly came in and it got cold which it didn't until about 6 pm tonight which was okay because the lift closed at 4pm. It will be open Saturday and Easter Sunday and then the lifts close for the season because their insurance runs out.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
