My son and his son headed south from Portland and my wife and I headed north from the SF Bay area to meet in Mt. Shasta where there is a walk-run, a parade (country style) and fireworks at night time over Lake Siskiyou nearby. So, thousands of people likely will be here for the walk run from all over the country and world as per usual for a country 4th of July celebration.
I can't really remember the first time I did this but it was likely sometime between 1969 and 1976 as I spent a lot of time up near Horse Camp and Castle Lake and Panther Meadows during summers starting around 1969 when I climbed Half dome up the wire with a friend and then in August 1970 I climbed Mt. Shasta with 3 friends just after the "I AM" Pagaent at the Amphitheater on the life of Christ where they have a lot of angels in the presentation too I think in August Sometime every year since the 1940s. However, they don't emphasize the Crucifixion and instead emphasize his resurrection and Ascension into Heaven instead.
It's supposed to be 83 degrees Fahrenheit high on the 4th.
Driving up Interstate 5 it was between 90 and about 93 degrees most of the way once you were on Interstate 5 through places like Williams, Red Bluff and Redding today.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
