I was sleeping and my wife came into the bedroom and said to me something like: "Hey! you better come quick. I don't know if this is science fiction or what but it says it's on CNN. It looks like a plane has flown into a big building in New York City." So, I got up to calm my wife down thinking it was probably some private plane that had made a bad mistake getting blown into a big building in New York by a pilot that didn't know how to compensate for crosswinds by flying crabbed into the wind to stay on a straight line forward. So, half asleep I walk into the den or living room (wherever we had our Main TV then) and saw smoke billowing out of the first building and thought, "Hey! This isn't a little plane this is a big one." And told my wife this to begin with.
But, as I was sitting there less than 5 minutes or so I saw the 2nd plane going into the 2nd World Trade Center and realized the whole world was in trouble. Because this is the sort of thing that could start world War III with Nukes. So, at this point I was terrified along with the rest of the world.
And it's been pretty horrific and PTSD for the whole world ever since!
We had about 10 years where things were not completely insane like they were from the beginning of the Great Depression to the Collapse of the Soviet Union around 1990. Then during the Clinton Administration we had the first real peace on earth (NO Cold WAR or World WARII or Great Depression for those lonely 10 years time.
But, on 9-11-01 all hell broke loose in a whole new way which brought complete and utter insanity to the earth once again. And it's just gotten much worse since then never better which is exactly why the human race could go extinct this century from Global Warming from presidents like Trump.
