However, most of the island is much less than that. So, with a 23 foot storm surge hitting there right now, anyone that isn't at the very least about 50 feet in elevation (before the house is built on top of that) is in pretty serious trouble. They might survive at 25 feet elevation in a two story apartment if it is well built and doesn't wash in storm surge out to sea.
