Often people who get married share a common religion (but not always). However, the values of standing by one person (til death do us part) are more likely found in someone at the very least (culturally religious) "culturally religious" just means people go to church or pretend to believe in something because it is traditional but may not really believe in God or anything else "in their heart of hearts".
As more young people become educated with college educations they learn critical thinking. If they apply this critical thinking along with Philosophic inquiry towards religion they might not believe in any religion on earth after that.
So, all these things are moving people towards not getting married as much world wide.
But, of course there likely are hundreds of other reasons as well not listed here.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
