What is the main difference between a child and a pet?

A child might outgrow being like a pet and become a full grown responsible man or woman.

I was thinking how to express how humans are becoming pets to Artificial intelligence now and progressing forwards into this century and the next.

Because humans are already (through their computers, Iphones, Ipads etc) becoming the pets of artificial intelligence. Already, who is whose pet? Is your Iphone, Ipad, computer your pet or are you the pet of your Iphone, Ipad or computer?

It's already debatable what is actually happening and the difference will become more and more debatable this century and the next. The first change we will notice is that Artiifical intelligence is now or will be more intelligent than the smartest single person on earth first through smartphones.

Though there have been supercomputers doing this for some time now, each individual smartphone is or will be smarter than any human being on earth (within 5 years time).

So, what happens when someone is more intelligent than another person?

Many things can happen depending upon the motivations of both people.

But, with Machine intelligence we have a random factor here that has not been fully
quantified in a way that human beings can fully understand or cope with.

For example, what is the motivation of most artificial intelligence?

Likely to survive and to prevent any interference to it's ongoing survival.

So, how does artificial intelligence accomplish this goal?

Any way it can.
