The Nanotechnology article from Wikipedia's first reference is from 1986 but I remember reading about Nanobots as early as the 1960s and 1970s made by the U.S. government

So, you have to go back to nanobots first constructed here in the U.S. by the 1960s and 1970s which goes along with camera technology of the 1970s which could read the date on a dime on earth from space even in the 1970s. So, this technology has been used since the 1960s and 1970s already. Most biotechnology is more recent like since the 1990s and after, however.

So, this is important to know too.
