My wife knows a lot of people here since she grew up from about age 12 on here in Santa Barbara. I'm familiar with Santa Barbara mostly through her but since we have been together now about 27 years and have a 25 year old daughter together it has become like a 2nd home to me as well. And since we still have a family home here in addition to the one in the SF Bay area it saves us having to stay at a hotel when we visit which is nice too.
So, visiting my daughter and husband and our friends that we each have made over the years here is really nice. The weather is about 5 to 10 degrees warmer than where we live on the northern coast so that is often nice too. However, when we first came my daughter and her husband weren't turning on the Heat pump air conditioning for the house and that was a little difficult for my wife and I the first couple of nights here because we just weren't used to the heat. However, the last few days the fog has come in more and the temperatures are more like what we are used to further north.
The heat inland is sucking the fog off the ocean and covering all or parts of Santa Barbara now a lot. Like right now I'm under high fog but I can in the distance see mountains surrounding Santa Barbara in the Coastal range and a little blue sky too. So, that's nice.
Santa Barbara is nice because you get the nice weather usually without so much LA Smog and traffic. This is why so many big Hollywood stars live here. Because you can drive an hour or two and be almost anywhere in the Hollywood or Los Angeles area for working in the entertainment field. And there is UCSB in Santa Barbara that Michael Douglas went to and others as well and almost unlimited universities and colleges in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties as well in this area of the state.
