Often around Thanksgiving tends to be around San Francisco some of the coldest temperatures of the year. I'm not sure why this is true other than the fact that often the sky is clear so the heat goes straight up into the sky often this time of year (especially at night) whereas often in January through March it can be cloudy, rainy and stormy and windy throughout northern California especially along the coast from about Big Sur to Eureka in the somewhat same weather belt (even though Eureka often is much colder by 10 degrees or more than San Francisco Often from January to March at least.
