Omicron might be "peaking" in South Africa

Still, it’s not yet clear how severe, or mild, the variant is. South Africa, which first identified it, delivered some positive news on its own outbreak on Friday, reporting a much lower rate of hospital admissions and signs the wave of infection may be peaking.

However, even if it is peaking it's hard to say what that might mean for other countries. For example, it's likely summertime in South Africa because it is south of the Equator. So, what happens where it's winter and snow is outside like New England or Michigan or Wisconsin or Minnesota? It's hard to say at this point.
