Since it is expected that there will be 1 million cases of Omicron per day by the middle of January, but without the number of deaths if it were all Delta, a new way of thinking about it as a government is emerging. The question becomes: "How many are in the hospital or dying there?" instead of: "How many cases are there?"
Because if you have 1 million or more cases a day but most people are just staying home with a bad cold or flu like symptoms it's true all restaurants in the U.S. will likely close because all or most workers will be sick but most will not be in the hospital or dying if they JUST have Omicron and that's all.
However, it is also possible to get Delta, Omicron and the flu all at the same time. This is possible. So, for the poor people who get all three and aren't vaccinated and if they are over 45 they could easily die from it.
