However, it's a big deal that it passed in the House because this is a precedent that is amazing.
I, personally don't like the idea of Marijuana being decriminalized for a variety of reasons. But, I do agree with the fact of it being decriminalized saves literally thousands of lives of people (especially along our southern border) of people now now beheaded or murdered by the cartels over marijuana (even though they are still being murdered over things like Cocaine and Heroin every day along the border).
But, I don't like what marijuana does to a lot of people which sort of "dumbs them down a lot". I saw what marijuana did to people in college who smoked it and ate it then and often the results were not good at all.
Of course this depended a lot on the person but generally speaking the outcome was not a good one.
Why?
Because Marijuana at least then was a feeder drug which tended to slowly or quickly catapult people towards harder and more fatal drugs. The biggest problem I noticed with marijuana is it affects people's decisions in life for up to 6 months time of the last time they smoked it (even in the 1960s).
So, from my point of view Marijuana is as bad as Alcohol in regards to what it does in the short and long term to people's lives.
However, by decriminalizing it it also keeps people from being murdered by cartels over the competition of who is going to be able to sell it especially along the southern borders of the U.S.
So, decriminalizing it to prevent thousands of murders each year is a good idea. But, the effects both short and long term of smoking or using marijuana is not a good thing at all from my point of view.
However, medicinal marijuana to help people survive is often a good thing too.
So, at best it's a very mixed bag.
