The way they depict writers at a writer's workshop in Morocco was interesting I thought. I think get togethers like this are to help writers benefit from each other's company to get their creative juices going. It's easy for professional writers to get Writer's blocks as well and to get mentally and emotionally constipated. So, I can see how writer's workshops might be good.
If you are a new writer (for fun or pleasure or money) often Creative Writing Classes at Community Colleges or Universities might be helpful too.
Often what a Creative Writing Class in a college will do is to get you to write about your life and your experiences throughout your life or at specific times. Often the Professor will read your work and tell you what they think about it. Having feedback from other people who want to be better writers can also be helpful. At the end of the Class every member of the class gave something a few pages that they had written and it was compiled into a workbook or publication for us each to have a copy of when I took my last Creative Writing Class at a local Community College in the early 2000s.
