But, security people and police and CHPs had blocked of the roads because people wouldn't want 100 pound boulders thrown through the windows of their cars or banging into their roofs or sides of cars or running over these things which might ruin a car or truck.
That year there is a great video of people playing golf and a wave so big it sunk a Golf Cart. However, I think all the people got away or grabbed trees so they weren't washed out to sea and dead.
It might have been that year that 100 pine trees came down in the area where I live. The roads were a mess but then I also have a high ground clearance Tundra 4 wheel drive too that can drive almost literally anywhere if I need it to.
One time a friend and I were going on a really remote back 4 wheel drive road past McGinnis springs and the Tibetan Stupa near Wagon Camp up on the mountain. We found the road that takes us East around the mountain from that side. It is just below Grey Butte I think. Well, we headed down this road in my 4 wheel drive Tundra but no one had been on this road this year because there were limbs and boulders and tree trunks and everything there. However, it was so steep that we couldn't really turn back because there was nowhere to turn around. As it was I was having a hard time not rolling my truck down the hill on this old Dirt Road. Finally, with my friend clearing the boulders and stumps and limbs and debris off the road from the last winter we made it down to Mud Creek but the creek was in flood stage. So, I was worried about my truck going over a waterfall in the deluge of water from it.
So, I got a large big tree limb to see if I could safely cross the deluge on foot through it safely enough to bring the truck through it without losing it over a waterfall. Though I made it across safely I realized that I couldn't make it back across to my truck. So, I threw the keys to him over Mud Creek and told him how to drive a constant rate to make it across in one piece and he did exactly as I told him in low range 4 wheel drive through Mud Creek. Once we had done that we drove over past McCloud at a fairly high altitude and down to a friends house out past McCloud and I think we visited our friend there and his dog and cat before we drove back to Mt. Shasta on Highway 89 then.
