When was it decided that I would be allowed by the Galaxy to write about stuff like this?
I think it was decided before I was born in 1948 which is some time after Roswell. That would be the best answer I can give you. Even as an 8 year old I was given plans to build my own time and space traveling UFO in church one day. I remember thinking to myself. "Why are you guys giving me this?" I could build this thing. That's not the problem. The problem would be: "What would I do with it?" "Where would I go with it.?"
I think at the time they were worried about Earth nuking out then still in the 1950s but that has changed a lot since then too.
So, though I knew then how to build a Flying Saucer I never built one because it didn't seem practical even when I was 8 years old to me to do so.
The Roswell crash occurred in early July 1947, with debris discovered in June 1947 and publicly announced on July 8, 1947.
Key Details
Discovery Date: A rancher named W.W. ("Mac") Brazel found unusual debris in a sheep pasture near Roswell, New Mexico, in late June 1947 (with some accounts placing the event around June 14, 1947).
Initial Announcement: On July 8, 1947, the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) issued a press release stating they had recovered a "flying disc," which was famously reported in the Roswell Daily Record.
The Correction: The military quickly retracted the statement, claiming the wreckage was actually a crashed weather balloon.
The Real Origin:
In 1994, the U.S. Air Force revealed that the debris belonged to Project Mogul, a top-secret high-altitude balloon project designed to monitor Soviet nuclear tests.
Would you like to know more about the Project Mogul explanation or the history of the UFO conspiracy theories surrounding the event?
