When I looked for prices of a single bedroom to rent I found the very smallest cheapest bedroom (just a bedroom for rent it was $750 but the average room for rent is around 900 to 1000 a month. When my daughter wanted to rent a room going to college in San Francisco she paid 1100 or 1200 for only 1/2 a bedroom in a house to rent for college. IN her specific location a single bedroom (a nicer one with a view of the ocean) was 2200 a month for a single bedroom and bathroom that she shared with a room mate (another girl).
So, even if your child wants to go to college in or near San Francisco this is something seriously to think about if for example, your child is going to college in or near San Francisco for the spring or summer or fall quarter or semester.
My wife and I own our home outright so it's only property taxes that we have to come up with on the coast within 1 mile of the ocean.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
