As I grew up the level of ignorance was unbelievable to me looking back from now. Every now and again I meet someone as ignorant as most people were in the 1950s and I feel very sorry for them. So, if you believe in the wrong things you are really going to suffer and die in life. Or if you believe in nothing at all often you will be dead within a few years at most.
So, having something to believe in (even if it is a person or friend or yourself) seems to be necessary for human survival. This I have observed throughout my life.
So, because of this understanding that people need to believe in SOMETHING it tends to make me more tolerant of strange beliefs (as long as they aren't harming anyone with these beliefs).
So, if someone comes up to me and says "The moon is made of Green cheese" my reaction would likely be 'Okay" simply because I don't want them to kill themselves because I tell them "it's not made of green Cheese".
So, having faced suicide myself because of a broken off relationship because of her Celibacy and not wanting to have children and wanting to be married to me without sex or children and then leaving my religion partly because of this and the hypocrisy I faced then in 1969 to 1973 I tend to be very tolerant of spiritual beliefs or whatever people want to believe in just so they don't want to kill themeslves.
I don't want to be responsible for anyone's death for any reason.
Part of this was I was raised to be a minister by my parents in their religion so at this point all humans are like my family and I don't want to cause harm to any of them.
It's likely a very ministerial point of view.
