Why?
Because they are wild. This is not a bull with cows that are Herefords that have been domesticated here in the U.S. for over 100 years or more. These are wild (thousands of years wild) animals used to killing (that's right killing wolves that mess with their herds and anything else that bothers their herds for thousands of years or more already.
Though they are not an apex predator if you think about buffalo a lot like you do wild elephants or Rhinos you will be safer if you do this when you visit places like Yellowstone National park here in the U.S.
How do Buffalo kill and maim people and children who get too close to Bulls protecting their herds?
First they knock you down a lot like a Rhino does with their horns and then they rise up on their hind legs and crush your head and chest with their front hooves and that's it. It's all over. Just one time it's all done quickly.
So, if you can get into your car or climb a tree if you piss a bull Buffalo off because otherwise you are very likely dead or maimed for life within about 5 seconds time. That's how much time it takes for them to kill a person or a child or any animals that piss them off. They kill many more people than Grizzly bears do by the way here in the U.S. Why?
Because there are so many of them in herds that don't try to hide from humans like Grizzlies tend to in Yellowstone Park. You will see a bull Buffalo blocking a road with 20 to 30 cars stopped on it. Should you get out and say "Hi?" Probably not if you know what's good for you. Take your pictures from inside your car so you and your kids stay in one piece. If you see big testicles on this bull Buffalo or if there is a cow with a baby watch out, especially if they all are there together.
