Why? Because before Trump's so called tax cut you could write off $10,000 of your State income taxes against your Federal income taxes. So, for Californians that own businesses or own their own homes especially, they are all paying about at least $10,000 to $20,000 more in taxes because of this.
So, Trump did this to punish anyone who lives in a rich Democratic Controlled State like New York or California or others that are rich enough to have state income taxes in addition to Federal income taxes. So, if you live in a state rich enough to have things like an Environmental protection agency to actually keep their people alive like California you are lucky. Not the fake one that kills Americans in all states where the old EPA of the federal Government has been destroyed by Trump, for example. So, as you watch people die of chemicals in water or asthma from air pollution just thank Trump for their deaths from a non-existent Federal Environmental Protection Agency under Trump.
California also has Medi-Cal for poorer people or people with small businesses with kids who cannot afford to by health insurance for their families so they have catastrophic health care insurance in this way.
Without California's State income taxes these services would not be possible for everyone or for the poor with or without businesses with Children.
