McConnell doesn't really have a vested interest in "Clearing the President's name" because it is not possible to do in reality. Any practical person knows that Trump's name is besmirched and and will be associated with Impeachment now in history forever. So, Trump is completely unrealistic regarding all things around this at this point.
But, McConnell doesn't really want the Impeachment at all. It's a hot potato for the whole Republican party and the way Pelosi is presently handling the impeachment it likely is the end for the Republican party either sooner or later from a complete lack of integrity. It's only a matter of time now for the Republican part to be no more (sooner or later).
So, the timing of all this might have something to do with how Pelosi handles all this at this point.
For example, what if Pelosi doesn't think that what the Senate is doing in January is fair to the People of the U.S.? Likely, she could hold off giving it to the Senate in a timely way and make a lot of noise about how awful and unfair this is to the American people for as long as possible.
So, when McConnell does a Trump Travesty to the Impeachment it will be perfectly obvious to the world that it is like a mafia run trial by McConnell and Trump and a part of Putin's plan to subvert our democracy with money bribing McConnell and Trump (since Putin is the richest known person on earth at this point). So, McConnell and Trump are likely going to be pretty rich from Putin bribing them so completely and selling out our democracy and the people of the U.S. and World (and this is something all reporters and citizens should be aware is actually going on.)
I'm speaking as a precognitive psychic and Intuitive here.
