Yes, the virus has mutated since it was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December last year. And yes, certain mutations are more common in different parts of the world.
But so far, these haven't made a material difference in how we should be fighting the virus, says Kanta Subbarao, a virologist at the Doherty Institute.

So, as travelers from the world travel to other countries (except for people with U.S. Passports) you can expect most or all of these virus variations to be moving around the world to various random places over time. And likely eventually all virus variations will be in some part of the 50 states here too because of all the people traveling the world now too.
Most countries now prevent people from the U.S. and Brazil from going there because we have more tested cases than anywhere else now on earth.
However, this doesn't mean that this is really true it just means our nation is more honest about how many cases we have tested positive.
