The present tax problem in the U.S. and other countries is caused neither by the rich or the poor or the middle class. It is caused by the changes that Globalization, Nafta, Gatt and all other agreements between nations that basically knock down all ability of nations to protect their citizens from financial harm through inflation, deflation, jobs exported over borders, theft of national patents over borders, the basic theft of music rights and intellectual properties and ideas worldwide.
Since the basic loss of revenues worldwide is not caused by the rich or the middle class or the poor in reality, overtaxing any group rich, middle or poor is only going to cause all the problems we are now having to get exponentially worse.
Unless any developed country can get over 3.3 % or more in GDP expansion per year that economy can expect to increase their unemployment rates by 1% or more. Overtaxing the rich (who create jobs along with the middle class) will only increase unemployment in that nation and through that nation's unemployment problems increase international distress of all kinds as a result.
Though it is true that the debt and the deficit need to be tackled it is sort of like asking someone hanging on to a tree branch over the edge of a cliff to pay all their bills before they get rescued. Doing that only will increase the chances of a fatality of an individual, a family or a nation.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
