Tokyo (CNN) -- Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant experienced full meltdowns at three reactors in the wake of an earthquake and tsunami in March, the country's Nuclear Emergency Response Headquarters said Monday.
The nuclear group's new evaluation, released Monday, goes further than previous statements in describing the extent of the damage caused by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11.
The announcement will not change plans for how to stabilize the Fukushima Daiichi plant, the agency said.
Reactors 1, 2 and 3 experienced a full meltdown, it said. end quote.
Though it is good to know finally that Reactors 1, 2, and 3 experienced a full meltdown, remember that Chernobyl was only one reactor and one meltdown. Also, at Fukushima, Reactor number 3 also contained Plutonium which has a half-life of 21,500 years. This plutonium is part of the reprocessing of nuclear weapons grade fuel. However, this plutonium now loose from a full meltdown will just keep on killing life in whatever form it contacts for the next 21,500 years before it breaks down to half as much radiation. So, given this it likely will be 100,000 years before the plutonium is completely safe to be around. If you go back on earth 100,000 years where was mankind then? And if you go forward 100,000 years what will be happening then? And where are all the plutonium particles now? And where are all the Cesium particles now? Cesium is one of the radioactive elements that will come from reactors 1, 2, and likely 3 as well. Cesium has a half life of around 30 years. Which likely means that it will be completely safe to be around Cesium particles in about 120 years here on earth. One of the interesting things about cesium is that it is used to find Art Forgeries of the great artists like Da Vinci and others. It turns out that literally everything including all life on earth and all paint on earth since about 1945 has some Cesium in it now. So all an official needs do is to test for Cesium to see if it is a forgery of a painting done before 1945.
