Texas ice storm cuts power to more than 250K

DALLAS (AP) — An ice storm in North Texas has knocked out power to more than a quarter of a million homes and business, canceled almost 1,000 flights and contributed to a fatal wreck.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Dallas area until Friday night.
Electric utility Oncor (ON'-kor) on Friday reported more than 252,000 customers without power mainly in the Dallas area.
American Airlines and American Eagle canceled about 900 flights systemwide Friday due to bad weather in Texas. Dallas-based Southwest Airlines canceled nearly 80 flights. Dallas Area Rapid Transit canceled rail service, switching travelers to buses.
Arlington police say a driver died Friday after his car hit a stopped truck. Police say inclement weather appears to have been a factor in the accident.
