Because ISIL that has just captured Mosul and Tikrit is now targeting Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala and plans to blow up two of the most sacred Shia sites on earth things are getting very serious in a Sectarian way.

This is one reason the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is in Iraq now and likely more will be coming to protect Maliki, Baghdad, and Najaf and Karbala as well as the majority Shia nation that Iraq is.
