Maximizing positive conditioning from childhood

When I was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s there was this attitude that you were supposed to "Just rip out any quality" that you didn't like in yourself. I used to try to do this until I studied in my 20s and 30s about Padmasambhava. Then I discovered "spontaneous accomplishment", and Crazy Wisdom" and "Being in the right place at the right time" and realized this was what both Jesus and Buddha and all the great ones down through history were actually  doing all the time. Or better said, "Still are actually doing all the time".

I realized that all qualities have two sides not just one side. So, if you can figure out what the flip side of a bad quality is and you tend to have the bad quality then you can emphasize in yourself the good side of that quality.

For example, in myself I can be extremely stubborn because I'm a Taurus. However, the flip side of this is determination or "Not giving up even if someone kills you if you believe in something strong enough."

So, you de-emphasize stubborness and move over to determination regarding important things you your life and the lives of all those around them. In other words "You never give up on the important people in your life.

You don't just have to be a stubborn asshole, you can use this quality to save your own life and the lives of others. You never give up if something is important enough. You are tenacious. You never give up on people as long as there is a chance to save their lives or their souls and usually both.

So, when you think about your own qualities maximize your qualities by emphasizing your best qualities and de-emphasizing the bad sides of those qualities. This is how you make your life a complete success in every way.
