A friend of mine who used to be District Attorney of Santa Cruz County in California before he became a Jesuit Priest told me his story of putting both hands on the right standing stone in Great Britain or Scotland. He was was very intuitive like me and he also had 200 IQ so he was off the charts in intelligence and spoke fluently and read 20 languages and kept up with them by getting about 10 to 20 foreign language newspapers delivered to his place daily or weekly.
Anyway, when he was still alive he told the story of touching the standing stone with both hands, like in the series Outlander. However, his experience was different than the character in the show.
What happened to him was that he was knocked unconscious for about 1 hour or more and because he was completely alone when he did this woke up unharmed luckily back where he was. I asked him what he had experienced and he told me he didn't know where he was but he was sent out of his body into the void somewhere but he didn't know what to make of it while his soul was out of his body.
My thought was that he was very lucky no bird or animal found his body while he was completely unconscious there in the grass next to whichever Standing stone he put both hands on which sent him out of his body for an hour or more.
But this priest was very advanced in understanding about these things and did understand soul travel like I do.
I have touched many standing stones in England and Scotland because they are alive and hum with the currents of the earth the way they are placed. So, literally because of how they are placed the rocks are alive and a part of the living being Earth. So, touching these standing stones lovingly often will change your life. So, in understanding this I touch standing stones whenever I can when I'm in England or Scotland if I feel moved to. It is sort of like touching the bases or branches of trees. To me it is the same thing. If the tree likes you and generally likes humans you can set up a field or a bond between you and the tree. And if the forest you are in likes humans too then powerful things can happen if you are kind to the right trees that accept you that you are open and honest with. Standing Stones in this sense are very similar to trees except the stones are millions of years older than any tree and placed on ley lines to empower the power of the Earth's magnetic fields to do things to humans of various kinds.
Some stones are healing stones and others are empowering stones and likely others will transport people to other times sort of like a bus or passenger plane takes one to another location. However, obviously you would have to know what you are doing so you don't die. But, if you are intuitive enough you might be able to find out directly from the stones, they would tell you if they felt it was in their and your interests.
