When Young Americans Travel Abroad

This is a joke I believe about Americans traveling abroad. "How do you spot Young Americans when you are traveling abroad?"

Answer: They all have backpacks with "Canada" on them.

This is because unless you know for sure who you are talking to and trust them with your life, you absolutely never want to tell ANYONE you are an American, because often this is a death sentence abroad.

However, most countries like Canada since it isn't the U.S. so that is a safe country to tell people who you are. However, if you do that you have to be familiar with the town you say you are from in Canada to make this work.

Also, to foreign speakers of English they mostly cannot tell by our accents who is Canadian and who is American, especially if you have a California or western region type of accent.
